Organizational works for IREMCON International Environmental Congress, which will be held in Istanbul from 21 - 22 March 2018 under the main sponsorship of Akademi Çevre, are still in progress both domestically and internationally. In the context of the 2nd IREMCON International Environmental Congress organized with the contributions from Gold Sponsors BENLİ GERİ DÖNÜŞÜM, DISAN HIDROLIK and İZAYDAŞ, Silver Sponsors DÖNMEZ VARİL, IFAT EURASIA and TAYÇED and Bronze Sponsors ITC and LASDER and support from UCLG MEWA, the IREMCON Steering Committee evaluated the works carried out at the meetings held in Macedonia, Istanbul, Izmit and finally, in Eskişehir.
Noting that the EU has speeded up the steps in this direction by setting the cyclical economy as a strategic target in recent years, 2nd IREMCON Chairman of the Executive Board Mustafa Akalp said "In the present day, when natural resources play a key role in the quality of human life, countries observe their activities not only for themselves but also for the benefit of the whole world. In today's conditions where secondary resources are equivalent to natural resources, the "3R" (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principle adopted in industrial environments is supported to implement sustainable development and cyclical economy model. These stages, which we call producers' waste reduction, reuse and recycling, are not only recovery, but also play a supporting role in reducing environmental concerns and improving technological development. On the other hand, the European Union will only accept 10% of all generated waste in solid waste landfills. While the EU is shaping the entire cyclical economy, it is emphasizing the economic dimension. With the reuse of waste as secondary raw material in Europe until 2030, it is estimated that an annual contribution of 600 billion Euros will be made to the EU economy...
At IREMCON, which was started to be held by basing on this ground and aims at bringing leading institutions and organisations in the Balkan countries together and strengthening the international cooperation, our purpose is to contribute to an effective waste management based on industrialisation and legislative compliance, together with all stakeholder countries. In this context, we recently held important discussions in Macedonia. Our contacts at the ministerial level continue with Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. So far, the ministers of the three countries will be participating in the congress, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our efforts. "
On the other hand, Uğur Işık, the General Director of AKADEMİ ÇEVRE, the Main Sponsor of the 2nd IREMCON International Environmental Congress, said in his speech on the subject that “We are a specialized company in the field, which collects, segregates, provides temporary and interim storage, purification, processing and recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes from hundreds of different EWC codes under waste disposal in accordance with environmental legislation, relevant regulations, circulars, notices and all kinds of legal regulations. As a company, we are pleased to support the 2nd IREMCON International Environmental Congress as the main sponsor in order to give the industry a new vision, share our experiences and strengthen international cooperation. Foreign contacts made by Mustafa Akalp, the Chairman of our Executive Board, and Caner Zanbak, the Chairman of our Technical Committee, are extremely important to demonstrate the effectiveness of Turkey in terms of waste management and recycling. We had a fruitful meeting in Istanbul with Dr. Alexi Atudore, the member of ISWA, responsible for the Balkans and Middle East. The participation of ISWA in IREMCON will add strength to our event.”
